Property fraud is a serious issue that can have devastating consequences. Scammers often file fake deeds to make it appear as if they own properties that are not actually theirs. They then deceive people into giving them money to buy or rent out those properties.

To protect your investment from fraud, you can use Property Fraud Alert. What is Property Fraud Alert?  It is a free service that monitors the documents being recorded in the Official Records of the Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller’s office.

You can register for Property Fraud Alerts for free to receive alerts when a document such as a deed or mortgage is recorded with their office using your name or your business’s name. You can get alerts by email or by phone.
